Upcoming Worth Causes

I broke the Guinness World Record for the “longest duration full body contact with ice (male)” during the Servus Calgary Marathon Runners’ Expo in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. My goal was to raise awareness and support for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by supporting Autism Canada. Before that, in 2018, I was inspired by my father’s journey as an immigrant to France to run over 3,000 kilometers from Normandy, France to Rabat, Morocco, highlighting the plight of refugees. I followed that up with a 4,500-kilometer run across the United States in 2020, partnering with USA for UNHCR to support migrants and refugees worldwide.

I broke a world record by running 45 kilometres barefoot in the ski resort of Tignes in the French Alps, over 2 consecutive days, started in the week of the 3rd of February 2025. Wearing only shorts, braving the frigid temperatures, and the high altitude of the Alps mountain range, I was able to spread awareness for mental health and suicide prevention.

The Svalbard 78° North Run: Running for Mental Health

Hi, I’m André Belibi Eloumou, and Guinness World Record Holder.

From October 20th to October 25th, 2025, I will attempt something no human has ever done before:

Running 250+ km across Svalbard — inside the Arctic Circle at 78° North latitude, deep in polar bear territory, close to the North Pole. I will run a full marathon (42.2 km) every day for 6 days, in nothing but shorts and running shoes, battling brutal −20 °C Arctic conditions. This challenge — the Svalbard 78 North Run — will set a new world record as the first human to run multiple marathons at this latitude. But this is not about glory.

It’s about shining a light on something far more important: mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

How It Went

🌍 Together for a Greater Cause for Mental Health Svalbard 💙

As part of my Arctic World Record challenge “Svalbard 78° North Run ❄️🏃🏾‍♂️ “ one of my main sponsors — Hurtigruten Svalbard — went above and beyond by hosting me at Coal Miners’ Cabins and providing vital logistical and safety support along the way.

But that’s not all. Together, we launched “Hurtigruten Svalbard’s Run for Mental Health” — a local initiative to inspire the community, move for a purpose, and raise funds for Mental Health Svalbard. 🏃‍♂️💭

Here’s what we achieved together:

✨ 75 Svalbard locals joined the challenge

✨ 1,925 km logged across the Arctic

✨ 5,559 NOK raised in total for mental health 💰

(4,409 NOK from Hurtigruten Svalbard + 1,150 NOK from the community Spleis fundraiser)

Fundraising wasn’t our main goal — awareness and connection were.

And that’s exactly what we achieved. 🙏

Every step, every story, every shared moment brought us closer to breaking the silence around mental health.

Thank you, Hurtigruten Svalbard, and everyone who took part. This is what true community looks like. 💙
